1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Commentary on LUKE CH 12 vs 49-53

Gospel Lk 12:49-53
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have come to set the earth on fire,
and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized,
and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division.
From now on a household of five will be divided,
three against two and two against three;
a father will be divided against his son
and a son against his father,
a mother against her daughter
and a daughter against her mother,
a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
      So what did JESUS mean about division?  HE came to turn those that will not repent of their sins & accept the Love & Mercy of Our LORDS Crucifixion, Death, & Resurrection on The Cross against themselves! HE also meant that it was not going to be easy to follow JESUS & that even our own family members would rebel against those that are truely devoted to JESUS because they will not repent of their sins & turn their hearts to The LORD JESUS CHRIST! If that kingdom is divided against itself can that kingdom stand? JESUS came that we may have life & have it more abundantly! LIVE for HIM! Die for HIM! Walk with HIM! Noah & Enoch “walked with GOD!” Wow what a statement! They walked with GOD! If they walked with GOD why can’t we? We can obviously walk with GOD!  Seek The LORD of HOSTS, repent of your sins, do HIS will but most of all get to know HIM.
    If men do not repent of theis sins & turn to JESUS CHRIST they are left to face GODS JUDGEMENTS & if they will not repent of theirs sins as GOD inflicts HIS Coming JUDGEMENTS on mankind they will be left ultimately to face HIS Wrath! For GOD has not appointed us to wrath but we all have free will. I choose life in CHRIST will you?
   If we seek JESUS CHRIST HE will give us peace in our hearts regardless of what is coming upon the earth. If we have repented & maintain a repentant heart & obey HIS Commandments we can know HIM but we must obey all 10. HIS Commandments are not burdensome & will bring us joy if we obey. HE can’t change ones heart if they will not repent of their sins! Peace of Our LORD JESUS CHRIST be with you.

Jeremiah Chapter 32 יִרְמְיָהוּ DAILY SCRIPTURES

Jeremiah Chapter 32

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.
2 Now at that time the king of Babylon’s army was besieging Jerusalem; and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the king of Judah’s house.
ג  אֲשֶׁר כְּלָאוֹ, צִדְקִיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ-יְהוּדָה לֵאמֹר:  מַדּוּעַ אַתָּה נִבָּא לֵאמֹר, כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה, הִנְנִי נֹתֵן אֶת-הָעִיר הַזֹּאת בְּיַד מֶלֶךְ-בָּבֶל, וּלְכָדָהּ. 3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying: ‘Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say: Thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;
ד  וְצִדְקִיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה, לֹא יִמָּלֵט מִיַּד הַכַּשְׂדִּים:  כִּי הִנָּתֹן יִנָּתֵן, בְּיַד מֶלֶךְ-בָּבֶל, וְדִבֶּר-פִּיו עִם-פִּיו, וְעֵינָיו אֶת-עֵינָו תִּרְאֶינָה. 4 and Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;
ה  וּבָבֶל יוֹלִךְ אֶת-צִדְקִיָּהוּ, וְשָׁם יִהְיֶה, עַד-פָּקְדִי אֹתוֹ, נְאֻם-יְהוָה:  כִּי תִלָּחֲמוּ אֶת-הַכַּשְׂדִּים, לֹא תַצְלִיחוּ.  {פ} 5 and he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I remember him, saith the LORD; though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper?’ {P}
6 And Jeremiah said: ‘The word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
7 Behold, Hanamel, the son of Shallum thine uncle, shall come unto thee, saying: Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth; for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.’
8 So Hanamel mine uncle’s son came to me in the court of the guard according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me: ‘Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself.’ Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
9 And I bought the field that was in Anathoth of Hanamel mine uncle’s son, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.
10 And I subscribed the deed, and sealed it, and called witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.
יא  וָאֶקַּח, אֶת-סֵפֶר הַמִּקְנָה, אֶת-הֶחָתוּם הַמִּצְוָה וְהַחֻקִּים, וְאֶת-הַגָּלוּי. 11 So I took the deed of the purchase, both that which was sealed, containing the terms and conditions, and that which was open;
12 and I delivered the deed of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel mine uncle[‘s son], and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the guard.
13 And I charged Baruch before them, saying:
יד  כֹּה-אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, לָקוֹחַ אֶת-הַסְּפָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אֵת סֵפֶר הַמִּקְנָה הַזֶּה וְאֵת הֶחָתוּם וְאֵת סֵפֶר הַגָּלוּי הַזֶּה, וּנְתַתָּם, בִּכְלִי-חָרֶשׂ–לְמַעַן יַעַמְדוּ, יָמִים רַבִּים.  {ס} 14 ‘Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Take these deeds, this deed of the purchase, both that which is sealed, and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel; that they may continue many days. {S}
טו  כִּי כֹה אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת, אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל:  עוֹד יִקָּנוּ בָתִּים וְשָׂדוֹת וּכְרָמִים, בָּאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת.  {פ} 15 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall yet again be bought in this land.’ {P}
16 Now after I had delivered the deed of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying:
יז  אֲהָהּ, אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, הִנֵּה אַתָּה עָשִׂיתָ אֶת-הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת-הָאָרֶץ, בְּכֹחֲךָ הַגָּדוֹל וּבִזְרֹעֲךָ הַנְּטוּיָה:  לֹא-יִפָּלֵא מִמְּךָ, כָּל-דָּבָר. 17 ‘Ah Lord GOD! behold, Thou hast made the heaven and the earth by Thy great power and by Thy outstretched arm; there is nothing too hard for Thee;
יח  עֹשֶׂה חֶסֶד, לַאֲלָפִים, וּמְשַׁלֵּם עֲו‍ֹן אָבוֹת, אֶל-חֵיק בְּנֵיהֶם אַחֲרֵיהֶם:  הָאֵל הַגָּדוֹל הַגִּבּוֹר, יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת שְׁמוֹ. 18 who showest mercy unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them; the great, the mighty God, the LORD of hosts is His name;
יט  גְּדֹל, הָעֵצָה, וְרַב, הָעֲלִילִיָּה–אֲשֶׁר-עֵינֶיךָ פְקֻחוֹת, עַל-כָּל-דַּרְכֵי בְּנֵי אָדָם, לָתֵת לְאִישׁ כִּדְרָכָיו, וְכִפְרִי מַעֲלָלָיו. 19 great in counsel, and mighty in work; whose eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men, to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings;
כ  אֲשֶׁר-שַׂמְתָּ אֹתוֹת וּמֹפְתִים בְּאֶרֶץ-מִצְרַיִם, עַד-הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה, וּבְיִשְׂרָאֵל, וּבָאָדָם; וַתַּעֲשֶׂה-לְּךָ שֵׁם, כַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה. 20 who didst set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel and among other men; and madest Thee a name, as at this day;
כא  וַתֹּצֵא אֶת-עַמְּךָ אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל, מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם–בְּאֹתוֹת וּבְמוֹפְתִים, וּבְיָד חֲזָקָה וּבְאֶזְרוֹעַ נְטוּיָה, וּבְמוֹרָא, גָּדוֹל. 21 and didst bring forth Thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terror;
כב  וַתִּתֵּן לָהֶם אֶת-הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת, אֲשֶׁר-נִשְׁבַּעְתָּ לַאֲבוֹתָם לָתֵת לָהֶם–אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב, וּדְבָשׁ. 22 and gavest them this land, which Thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;
כג  וַיָּבֹאוּ וַיִּרְשׁוּ אֹתָהּ, וְלֹא-שָׁמְעוּ בְקוֹלֶךָ ובתרותך (וּבְתוֹרָתְךָ) לֹא-הָלָכוּ–אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתָה לָהֶם לַעֲשׂוֹת, לֹא עָשׂוּ; וַתַּקְרֵא אֹתָם, אֵת כָּל-הָרָעָה הַזֹּאת. 23 and they came in, and possessed it; but they hearkened not to Thy voice, neither walked in Thy law; they have done nothing of all that Thou commandedst them to do; therefore Thou hast caused all this evil to befall them;
24 behold the mounds, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence; and what Thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, Thou seest it.
כה  וְאַתָּה אָמַרְתָּ אֵלַי, אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, קְנֵה-לְךָ הַשָּׂדֶה בַּכֶּסֶף, וְהָעֵד עֵדִים; וְהָעִיר נִתְּנָה, בְּיַד הַכַּשְׂדִּים.  {ס} 25 Yet Thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD: Buy thee the field for money, and call witnesses; whereas the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’ {S}
26 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying:
27 ‘Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is there any thing too hard for Me?
כח  לָכֵן, כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה:  הִנְנִי נֹתֵן אֶת-הָעִיר הַזֹּאת בְּיַד הַכַּשְׂדִּים, וּבְיַד נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ-בָּבֶל–וּלְכָדָהּ. 28 Therefore thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it;
29 and the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set this city on fire, and burn it, with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered unto Baal, and poured out drink-offerings unto other gods, to provoke Me.
30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done that which was evil in My sight from their youth; for the children of Israel have only provoked Me with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.
לא  כִּי עַל-אַפִּי וְעַל-חֲמָתִי, הָיְתָה לִּי הָעִיר הַזֹּאת, לְמִן-הַיּוֹם אֲשֶׁר בָּנוּ אוֹתָהּ, וְעַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה–לַהֲסִירָהּ, מֵעַל פָּנָי. 31 For this city hath been to Me a provocation of Mine anger and of My fury from the day that they built it even unto this day, that I should remove it from before My face;
32 because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke Me, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
33 And they have turned unto Me the back, and not the face; and though I taught them, teaching them betimes and often, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.
34 But they set their abominations in the house whereupon My name is called, to defile it.
לה  וַיִּבְנוּ אֶת-בָּמוֹת הַבַּעַל אֲשֶׁר בְּגֵיא בֶן-הִנֹּם, לְהַעֲבִיר אֶת-בְּנֵיהֶם וְאֶת-בְּנוֹתֵיהֶם לַמֹּלֶךְ, אֲשֶׁר לֹא-צִוִּיתִים וְלֹא עָלְתָה עַל-לִבִּי, לַעֲשׂוֹת הַתּוֹעֵבָה הַזֹּאת–לְמַעַן, הַחֲטִי אֶת-יְהוּדָה.  {ס} 35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to set apart their sons and their daughters unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into My mind, that they should do this abomination; to cause Judah to sin. {S}
36 And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say: It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence:
לז  הִנְנִי מְקַבְּצָם מִכָּל-הָאֲרָצוֹת, אֲשֶׁר הִדַּחְתִּים שָׁם בְּאַפִּי וּבַחֲמָתִי וּבְקֶצֶף גָּדוֹל; וַהֲשִׁבֹתִים אֶל-הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה, וְהֹשַׁבְתִּים לָבֶטַח. 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries, whither I have driven them in Mine anger, and in My fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them back unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely;
לח  וְהָיוּ לִי, לְעָם; וַאֲנִי, אֶהְיֶה לָהֶם לֵאלֹהִים. 38 and they shall be My people, and I will be their God;
לט  וְנָתַתִּי לָהֶם לֵב אֶחָד, וְדֶרֶךְ אֶחָד, לְיִרְאָה אוֹתִי, כָּל-הַיָּמִים–לְטוֹב לָהֶם, וְלִבְנֵיהֶם אַחֲרֵיהֶם. 39 and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me for ever; for the good of them, and of their children after them;
40 and I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me.
מא  וְשַׂשְׂתִּי עֲלֵיהֶם, לְהֵטִיב אוֹתָם; וּנְטַעְתִּים בָּאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת, בֶּאֱמֶת–בְּכָל-לִבִּי, וּבְכָל-נַפְשִׁי.  {ס} 41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land in truth with My whole heart and with My whole soul. {S}
42 For thus saith the LORD: Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.
43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say: It is desolate, without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
מד  שָׂדוֹת בַּכֶּסֶף יִקְנוּ, וְכָתוֹב בַּסֵּפֶר וְחָתוֹם וְהָעֵד עֵדִים, בְּאֶרֶץ בִּנְיָמִן וּבִסְבִיבֵי יְרוּשָׁלִַם וּבְעָרֵי יְהוּדָה וּבְעָרֵי הָהָר, וּבְעָרֵי הַשְּׁפֵלָה וּבְעָרֵי הַנֶּגֶב:  כִּי-אָשִׁיב אֶת-שְׁבוּתָם, נְאֻם-יְהוָה.  {פ} 44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe the deeds, and seal them, and call witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the hill-country, and in the cities of the Lowland, and in the cities of the South; for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.’ {P}

Reading 1 Acts 17:15, 22-18:1

After Paul’s escorts had taken him to Athens,
they came away with instructions for Silas and Timothy
to join him as soon as possible.Then Paul stood up at the Areopagus and said:
“You Athenians, I see that in every respect
you are very religious.
For as I walked around looking carefully at your shrines,
I even discovered an altar inscribed, ‘To an Unknown God.’
What therefore you unknowingly worship, I proclaim to you.
The God who made the world and all that is in it,
the Lord of heaven and earth,
does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands,
nor is he served by human hands because he needs anything.
Rather it is he who gives to everyone life and breath and everything.
He made from one the whole human race
to dwell on the entire surface of the earth,
and he fixed the ordered seasons and the boundaries of their regions,
so that people might seek God,
even perhaps grope for him and find him,
though indeed he is not far from any one of us.
For ‘In him we live and move and have our being,’
as even some of your poets have said,
‘For we too are his offspring.’
Since therefore we are the offspring of God,
we ought not to think that the divinity is like an image
fashioned from gold, silver, or stone by human art and imagination.
God has overlooked the times of ignorance,
but now he demands that all people everywhere repent
because he has established a day on which he will ‘judge the world
with justice’ through a man he has appointed,
and he has provided confirmation for all
by raising him from the dead.”

When they heard about resurrection of the dead,
some began to scoff, but others said,
“We should like to hear you on this some other time.”
And so Paul left them.
But some did join him, and became believers.
Among them were Dionysius,
a member of the Court of the Areopagus,
a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

After this he left Athens and went to Corinth.

Responsorial Psalm Ps 148:1-2, 11-12, 13, 14

R. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Praise the LORD from the heavens;
praise him in the heights.
Praise him, all you his angels;
praise him, all you his hosts.
R. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,
Young men too, and maidens,
old men and boys.
R. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Praise the name of the LORD,
for his name alone is exalted;
His majesty is above earth and heaven.
R. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
He has lifted up the horn of his people;
Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him.
R. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Gospel Jn 16:12-15

Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,
he will guide you to all truth.
He will not speak on his own,
but he will speak what he hears,
and will declare to you the things that are coming.
He will glorify me,
because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Everything that the Father has is mine;
for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine
and declare it to you.”

Jeremiah Chapter 18

Jeremiah Chapter 18

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying:
2 ‘Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear My words.’
3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he was at his work on the wheels.
ד  וְנִשְׁחַת הַכְּלִי, אֲשֶׁר הוּא עֹשֶׂה בַּחֹמֶר–בְּיַד הַיּוֹצֵר; וְשָׁב, וַיַּעֲשֵׂהוּ כְּלִי אַחֵר, כַּאֲשֶׁר יָשַׁר בְּעֵינֵי הַיּוֹצֵר, לַעֲשׂוֹת.  {ס} 4 And whensoever the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. {S}
5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying:
ו  הֲכַיּוֹצֵר הַזֶּה לֹא-אוּכַל לַעֲשׂוֹת לָכֶם, בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל–נְאֻם-יְהוָה; הִנֵּה כַחֹמֶר בְּיַד הַיּוֹצֵר, כֵּן-אַתֶּם בְּיָדִי בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל.  {ס} 6 ‘O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are ye in My hand, O house of Israel. {S}
ז  רֶגַע אֲדַבֵּר, עַל-גּוֹי וְעַל-מַמְלָכָה, לִנְתוֹשׁ וְלִנְתוֹץ, וּלְהַאֲבִיד. 7 At one instant I may speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it;
ח  וְשָׁב, הַגּוֹי הַהוּא, מֵרָעָתוֹ, אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתִּי עָלָיו–וְנִחַמְתִּי, עַל-הָרָעָה, אֲשֶׁר חָשַׁבְתִּי, לַעֲשׂוֹת לוֹ.  {ס} 8 but if that nation turn from their evil, because of which I have spoken against it, I repent of the evil that I thought to do unto it. {S}
ט  וְרֶגַע אֲדַבֵּר, עַל-גּוֹי וְעַל-מַמְלָכָה, לִבְנוֹת, וְלִנְטוֹעַ. 9 And at one instant I may speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
י  וְעָשָׂה הרעה (הָרַע) בְּעֵינַי, לְבִלְתִּי שְׁמֹעַ בְּקוֹלִי–וְנִחַמְתִּי, עַל-הַטּוֹבָה, אֲשֶׁר אָמַרְתִּי, לְהֵיטִיב אוֹתוֹ.  {ס} 10 but if it do evil in My sight, that it hearken not to My voice, then I repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit it. {S}
11 Now therefore do thou speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: Thus saith the LORD: Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you; return ye now every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.
יב  וְאָמְרוּ, נוֹאָשׁ:  כִּי-אַחֲרֵי מַחְשְׁבוֹתֵינוּ נֵלֵךְ, וְאִישׁ שְׁרִרוּת לִבּוֹ-הָרָע נַעֲשֶׂה.  {פ} 12 But they say: There is no hope; but we will walk after our own devices, and we will do every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart.’ {P}
13 Therefore thus saith the LORD: Ask ye now among the nations, who hath heard such things; the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
14 Doth the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? or are the strange cold flowing waters plucked up?
טו  כִּי-שְׁכֵחֻנִי עַמִּי, לַשָּׁוְא יְקַטֵּרוּ; וַיַּכְשִׁלוּם בְּדַרְכֵיהֶם, שְׁבִילֵי עוֹלָם, לָלֶכֶת נְתִיבוֹת, דֶּרֶךְ לֹא סְלוּלָה. 15 For My people hath forgotten Me, they offer unto vanity; and they have been made to stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths, to walk in bypaths, in a way not cast up;
16 To make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head.
יז  כְּרוּחַ-קָדִים אֲפִיצֵם, לִפְנֵי אוֹיֵב; עֹרֶף וְלֹא-פָנִים אֶרְאֵם, בְּיוֹם אֵידָם.  {ס} 17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will look upon their back, and not their face, in the day of their calamity. {S}
18 Then said they: ‘Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for instruction shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.’
19 Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before Thee to speak good for them, to turn away Thy wrath from them.
21 Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and hurl them to the power of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and widows; and let their men be slain of death, and their young men smitten of the sword in battle.
22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them; for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
כג  וְאַתָּה יְהוָה יָדַעְתָּ אֶת-כָּל-עֲצָתָם עָלַי, לַמָּוֶת–אַל-תְּכַפֵּר עַל-עֲו‍ֹנָם, וְחַטָּאתָם מִלְּפָנֶיךָ אַל-תֶּמְחִי; והיו (וְיִהְיוּ) מֻכְשָׁלִים לְפָנֶיךָ, בְּעֵת אַפְּךָ עֲשֵׂה בָהֶם.  {ס} 23 Yet, LORD, Thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me; forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from Thy sight; but let them be made to stumble before Thee; deal Thou with them in the time of Thine anger. {S}

Zechariah Chapter 14

Zechariah Chapter 14

1 Behold, a day of the LORD cometh, when thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, but the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fighteth in the day of battle.
4 And His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleft in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, so that there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azel; yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah; and the LORD my God shall come, and all the holy ones with Thee.
ו  וְהָיָה, בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא; לֹא-יִהְיֶה אוֹר, יְקָרוֹת יקפאון (וְקִפָּאוֹן). 6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that there shall not be light, but heavy clouds and thick;
7 And there shall be one day which shall be known as the LORD’S, not day, and not night; but it shall come to pass, that at evening time there shall be light.
8 And it shall come to pass in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem: half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea; in summer and in winter shall it be.
9 And the LORD shall be King over all the earth; in that day shall the LORD be One, and His name one.
10 All the land shall be turned as the Arabah, from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem; and she shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin’s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananel unto the king’s winepresses.
יא  וְיָשְׁבוּ בָהּ, וְחֵרֶם לֹא יִהְיֶה-עוֹד; וְיָשְׁבָה יְרוּשָׁלִַם, לָבֶטַח.  {ס} 11 And men shall dwell therein, and there shall be no more extermination; but Jerusalem shall dwell safely. {S}
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the peoples that have warred against Jerusalem: their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their sockets, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.
14 And Judah also shall fight against Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the nations round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.
15 And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in those camps, as this plague.
16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
17 And it shall be, that whoso of the families of the earth goeth not up unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, upon them there shall be no rain.
18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, they shall have no overflow; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the nations that go not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations that go not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
20 In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses: HOLY UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD’S house shall be like the basins before the altar.
כא  וְהָיָה כָּל-סִיר בִּירוּשָׁלִַם וּבִיהוּדָה, קֹדֶשׁ לַיהוָה צְבָאוֹת, וּבָאוּ כָּל-הַזֹּבְחִים, וְלָקְחוּ מֵהֶם וּבִשְּׁלוּ בָהֶם; וְלֹא-יִהְיֶה כְנַעֲנִי עוֹד בְּבֵית-יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת, בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא.  {ש} 21 Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holy unto the LORD of hosts; and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein; and in that day there shall be no more a trafficker in the house of the LORD of hosts. {P}

The Apocalypse Of Saint John (Revelation) Chapter 6

[1] And I saw that the Lamb had opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures, as it were the voice of thunder, saying: Come, and see. [2] And I saw: and behold a white horse, and he that sat on him had a bow, and there was a crown given him, and he went forth conquering that he might conquer. [3] And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature, saying: Come, and see. [4] And there went out another horse that was red: and to him that sat thereon, it was given that he should take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another, and a great sword was given to him. [5] And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying: Come, and see. And behold a black horse, and he that sat on him had a pair of scales in his hand.

[6] And I heard as it were a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying: Two pounds of wheat for a penny, and thrice two pounds of barley for a penny, and see thou hurt not the wine and the oil. [7] And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature, saying: Come, and see. [8] And behold a pale horse, and he that sat upon him, his name was Death, and hell followed him. And power was given to him over the four parts of the earth, to kill with sword, with famine, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. [9] And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held. [10] And they cried with a loud voice, saying: How long, O Lord (holy and true) dost thou not judge and revenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

[11] And white robes were given to every one of them one; and it was said to them, that they should rest for a little time, till their fellow servants, and their brethren, who are to be slain, even as they, should be filled up. [12] And I saw, when he had opened the sixth seal, and behold there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair: and the whole moon became as blood: [13] And the stars from heaven fell upon the earth, as the fig tree casteth its green figs when it is shaken by a great wind: [14] And the heaven departed as a book folded up: and every mountain, and the islands were moved out of their places. [15]And the kings of the earth, and the princes, and tribunes, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman, and every freeman, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of mountains:

[16] And they say to the mountains and the rocks: Fall upon us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth upon the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb: [17] For the great day of their wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand?

Proverbs Chapter 12

Proverbs Chapter 12

1 Whoso loveth knowledge loveth correction; but he that is brutish hateth reproof.
2 A good man shall obtain favour of the LORD; but a man of wicked devices will He condemn.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall never be moved.
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but she that doeth shamefully is as rottenness in his bones.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right; but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
8 A man shall be commended according to his intelligence; but he that is of a distorted understanding shall be despised.
9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that playeth the man of rank, and lacketh bread.
10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 He that tilleth his ground shall have plenty of bread; but he that followeth after vain things is void of understanding.
12 The wicked desireth the prey of evil men; but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
13 In the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man; but the righteous cometh out of trouble.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the doings of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
15 The way of a fool is straight in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
16 A fool’s vexation is presently known; but a prudent man concealeth shame.
17 He that breatheth forth truth uttereth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.
18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
21 There shall no mischief befall the righteous; but the wicked are filled with evil.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD; but they that deal truly are His delight.
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful shall be under tribute.
25 Care in the heart of a man boweth it down; but a good word maketh it glad.
26 The righteous is guided by his friend; but the way of the wicked leadeth them astray.
27 The slothful man shall not hunt his prey; but the precious substance of men is to be diligent.
28 In the way of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

he that speaketh falsehood shall not be established before mine eyes.
ח  לַבְּקָרִים,    אַצְמִית כָּל-רִשְׁעֵי-אָרֶץ;
8 Morning by morning will I destroy all the wicked of the land; {N}
to cut off all the workers of iniquity from the city of the LORD. {P}

Genesis Chapter 1

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 Now the earth was unformed and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters.
3 And God said: ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.
ה  וַיִּקְרָא אֱלֹהִים לָאוֹר יוֹם, וְלַחֹשֶׁךְ קָרָא לָיְלָה; וַיְהִי-עֶרֶב וַיְהִי-בֹקֶר, יוֹם אֶחָד.  {פ} 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. {P}
6 And God said: ‘Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.’
7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.
ח  וַיִּקְרָא אֱלֹהִים לָרָקִיעַ, שָׁמָיִם; וַיְהִי-עֶרֶב וַיְהִי-בֹקֶר, יוֹם שֵׁנִי.  {פ} 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day. {P}
9 And God said: ‘Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear.’ And it was so.
10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas; and God saw that it was good.
11 And God said: ‘Let the earth put forth grass, herb yielding seed, and fruit-tree bearing fruit after its kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth.’ And it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, herb yielding seed after its kind, and tree bearing fruit, wherein is the seed thereof, after its kind; and God saw that it was good.
יג  וַיְהִי-עֶרֶב וַיְהִי-בֹקֶר, יוֹם שְׁלִישִׁי.  {פ} 13 And there was evening and there was morning, a third day. {P}
יד  וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים, יְהִי מְאֹרֹת בִּרְקִיעַ הַשָּׁמַיִם, לְהַבְדִּיל, בֵּין הַיּוֹם וּבֵין הַלָּיְלָה; וְהָיוּ לְאֹתֹת וּלְמוֹעֲדִים, וּלְיָמִים וְשָׁנִים. 14 And God said: ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years;
15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth.’ And it was so.
16 And God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; and the stars.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.
יט  וַיְהִי-עֶרֶב וַיְהִי-בֹקֶר, יוֹם רְבִיעִי.  {פ} 19 And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. {P}
20 And God said: ‘Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let fowl fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.’
21 And God created the great sea-monsters, and every living creature that creepeth, wherewith the waters swarmed, after its kind, and every winged fowl after its kind; and God saw that it was good.
22 And God blessed them, saying: ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.’
כג  וַיְהִי-עֶרֶב וַיְהִי-בֹקֶר, יוֹם חֲמִישִׁי.  {פ} 23 And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day. {P}
24 And God said: ‘Let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after its kind.’ And it was so.
25 And God made the beast of the earth after its kind, and the cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.
26 And God said: ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.’
27 And God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.
28 And God blessed them; and God said unto them: ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that creepeth upon the earth.’
כט  וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים, הִנֵּה נָתַתִּי לָכֶם אֶת-כָּל-עֵשֶׂב זֹרֵעַ זֶרַע אֲשֶׁר עַל-פְּנֵי כָל-הָאָרֶץ, וְאֶת-כָּל-הָעֵץ אֲשֶׁר-בּוֹ פְרִי-עֵץ, זֹרֵעַ זָרַע:  לָכֶם יִהְיֶה, לְאָכְלָה. 29 And God said: ‘Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed–to you it shall be for food;
30 and to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is a living soul, [I have given] every green herb for food.’ And it was so.
לא  וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים אֶת-כָּל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה, וְהִנֵּה-טוֹב מְאֹד; וַיְהִי-עֶרֶב וַיְהִי-בֹקֶר, יוֹם הַשִּׁשִּׁי.  {פ} 31 And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. {P}

Psalms Chapter 78

1 Maschil of Asaph. {N}
Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
ב  אֶפְתְּחָה בְמָשָׁל פִּי;    אַבִּיעָה חִידוֹת, מִנִּי-קֶדֶם. 2 I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter dark sayings concerning days of old;
3 That which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us,
ד  לֹא נְכַחֵד, מִבְּנֵיהֶם–    לְדוֹר אַחֲרוֹן, מְסַפְּרִים תְּהִלּוֹת יְהוָה;
4 We will not hide from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, {N}
and His strength, and His wondrous works that He hath done.
5 For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, {N}
which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children that should be born; who should arise and tell them to their children,
ז  וְיָשִׂימוּ בֵאלֹהִים, כִּסְלָם:    וְלֹא יִשְׁכְּחוּ, מַעַלְלֵי-אֵל; וּמִצְו‍ֹתָיו יִנְצֹרוּ. 7 That they might put their confidence in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments;
8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; {N}
a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
9 The children of Ephraim were as archers handling the bow, that turned back in the day of battle.
י  לֹא שָׁמְרוּ, בְּרִית אֱלֹהִים;    וּבְתוֹרָתוֹ, מֵאֲנוּ לָלֶכֶת. 10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in His law;
11 And they forgot His doings, and His wondrous works that He had shown them.
12 Marvellous things did He in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 He cleaved the sea, and caused them to pass through; and He made the waters to stand as a heap.
14 By day also He led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
15 He cleaved rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the great deep.
16 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17 Yet went they on still to sin against Him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18 And they tried God in their heart by asking food for their craving.
19 Yea, they spoke against God; they said: ‘Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Behold, He smote the rock, that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed; {N}
can He give bread also? or will He provide flesh for His people?’
21 Therefore the LORD heard, and was wroth; {N}
and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also went up against Israel;
22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in His salvation.
כג  וַיְצַו שְׁחָקִים מִמָּעַל;    וְדַלְתֵי שָׁמַיִם פָּתָח. 23 And He commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven;
24 And He caused manna to rain upon them for food, and gave them of the corn of heaven.
25 Man did eat the bread of the mighty; He sent them provisions to the full.
26 He caused the east wind to set forth in heaven; and by His power He brought on the south wind.
כז  וַיַּמְטֵר עֲלֵיהֶם כֶּעָפָר שְׁאֵר;    וּכְחוֹל יַמִּים, עוֹף כָּנָף. 27 He caused flesh also to rain upon them as the dust, and winged fowl as the sand of the seas;
28 And He let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their dwellings.
29 So they did eat, and were well filled; and He gave them that which they craved.
30 They were not estranged from their craving, their food was yet in their mouths,
לא  וְאַף אֱלֹהִים, עָלָה בָהֶם,    וַיַּהֲרֹג, בְּמִשְׁמַנֵּיהֶם;
31 When the anger of God went up against them, and slew of the lustieth among them, {N}
and smote down the young men of Israel.
32 For all this they sinned still, and believed not in His wondrous works.
33 Therefore He ended their days as a breath, and their years in terror.
34 When He slew them, then they would inquire after Him, and turn back and seek God earnestly.
35 And they remembered that God was their Rock, and the Most High God their redeemer.
36 But they beguiled Him with their mouth, and lied unto Him with their tongue.
37 For their heart was not stedfast with Him, neither were they faithful in His covenant.
38 But He, being full of compassion, forgiveth iniquity, and destroyeth not; {N}
yea, many a time doth He turn His anger away, and doth not stir up all His wrath.
39 So He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
40 How oft did they rebel against Him in the wilderness, and grieve Him in the desert!
41 And still again they tried God, and set bounds to the Holy One of Israel.
42 They remembered not His hand, nor the day when He redeemed them from the adversary.
מג  אֲשֶׁר-שָׂם בְּמִצְרַיִם, אֹתוֹתָיו;    וּמוֹפְתָיו, בִּשְׂדֵה-צֹעַן. 43 How He set His signs in Egypt, and His wonders in the field of Zoan;
44 And turned their rivers into blood, so that they could not drink their streams.
45 He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46 He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust.
47 He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore-trees with frost.
48 He gave over their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to fiery bolts.
49 He sent forth upon them the fierceness of His anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, a sending of messengers of evil.
נ  יְפַלֵּס נָתִיב, לְאַפּוֹ:    לֹא-חָשַׂךְ מִמָּוֶת נַפְשָׁם; וְחַיָּתָם, לַדֶּבֶר הִסְגִּיר. 50 He levelled a path for His anger; He spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
נא  וַיַּךְ כָּל-בְּכוֹר בְּמִצְרָיִם;    רֵאשִׁית אוֹנִים, בְּאָהֳלֵי-חָם. 51 And smote all the first-born in Egypt, the first-fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham;
52 But He made His own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53 And He led them safely, and they feared not; but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54 And He brought them to His holy border, to the mountain, which His right hand had gotten.
נה  וַיְגָרֶשׁ מִפְּנֵיהֶם, גּוֹיִם–    וַיַּפִּילֵם, בְּחֶבֶל נַחֲלָה;
55 He drove out the nations also before them, and allotted them for an inheritance by line, {N}
and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
נו  וַיְנַסּוּ וַיַּמְרוּ, אֶת-אֱלֹהִים עֶלְיוֹן;    וְעֵדוֹתָיו, לֹא שָׁמָרוּ. 56 Yet they tried and provoked God, the Most High, and kept not His testimonies;
57 But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers; they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58 For they provoked Him with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images.
נט  שָׁמַע אֱלֹהִים, וַיִּתְעַבָּר;    וַיִּמְאַס מְאֹד, בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל. 59 God heard, and was wroth, and He greatly abhorred Israel;
ס  וַיִּטֹּשׁ, מִשְׁכַּן שִׁלוֹ;    אֹהֶל, שִׁכֵּן בָּאָדָם. 60 And He forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which He had made to dwell among men;
61 And delivered His strength into captivity, and His glory into the adversary’s hand.
62 He gave His people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with His inheritance.
63 Fire devoured their young men; and their virgins had no marriage-song.
64 Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.
65 Then the Lord awaked as one asleep, like a mighty man recovering from wine.
66 And He smote His adversaries backward; He put upon them a perpetual reproach.
סז  וַיִּמְאַס, בְּאֹהֶל יוֹסֵף;    וּבְשֵׁבֶט אֶפְרַיִם, לֹא בָחָר. 67 Moreover He abhorred the tent of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim;
68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which He loved.
69 And He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which He hath founded for ever.
ע  וַיִּבְחַר, בְּדָוִד עַבְדּוֹ;    וַיִּקָּחֵהוּ, מִמִּכְלְאֹת צֹאן. 70 He chose David also His servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;
71 From following the ewes that give suck He brought him, to be shepherd over Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance.
עב  וַיִּרְעֵם, כְּתֹם לְבָבוֹ;    וּבִתְבוּנוֹת כַּפָּיו יַנְחֵם. 72 So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart; and lead them by the skilfulness of his hands. {P}
