DEVASTATING 6.7 QUAKE IN RUSSIA!

A state of emergency has been declared in Tuva, Central Siberia, close to the border with Mongolia. An earthquake of magnitude 6.7 on the Richter scale hit the area in the early hours of Wednesday. The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry has dispatched extra units to the region to deal with the aftermath of the quake, as well as the aftershocks which have occurred. Inhabitants of the region remain upbeat, joking about the coming of the often predicted end of the world. About 16 thousand people are checking houses on the ground and from the air, as well as electricity stations and other essential facilities, and are helping the people of Tuva. The republic was hit by the most powerful quake in its history, on the night of Wednesday. Estimates put the quake’s magnitude at 6.7 and 9 in the epi-center, which lies 100 kilometers east of the regional capital of Kyzyl, at a depth of 10 kilometers. Several aftershocks have been reported. In the morning, the magnitude of the quake had come down to 4.7. Seismologists report several smaller quakes of low intensity near the epi-center.

Oleg Starovoit, deputy Director for scientific work at the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Geophysics Service says that nobody expected an earthquake of such a magnitude. “Earthquakes of such force are rare in Tuva, and therefore, it cannot be called a typical phenomenon. Quakes of smaller forces do occur in the region”, Oleg Starovoit said, Residents of the neighbouring regions of Khakasia, Krasnoyarsk and Altai region, Irkutsk, Kemerovo and Tomsk felt the aftershocks. Significantly, the earthquake didn’t cause serious damage, but some residents have complained of cracks appearing in the walls of their homes, doors and window panes.. As a precautionary step, the Emergency Situations Ministry has sent to the region extra units, a team of psychologists and a mobile home for people, if an evacuation is necessary. This is what Svetlana Potekhina, an official of ESM’s Siberian office told VOR in an interview. “There has not been a serious interruption in the work of power stations, Housing and communal Service, railways and other essential services. Houses are being checked on the ground and from the air, and according to the latest information, no serious damage has bee found”, Svetlana Potekhina said.

The people of Tuna remain calm, and many people are already reportig the quake in their blogs and on their sites. Their comments show no evidence of panic. Seismologists have analyzed the seismic state of Tuva for the past 20 years, and they have concluded that a shift in the earth’ crust in the region is possible within a month, but no serious damage will occur

Panic as strong earthquake hits Indonesia’s Papua

JAKARTA, Indonesia — A strong earthquake hit Indonesia’s eastern province of Papua on Wednesday, causing panic among residents, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2, struck at 8:42 a.m. local time Wednesday (11:42 p.m. GMT Tuesday), said Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency.

The agency said the quake was centered about 34 kilometers (21 miles) southwest of the mountainous town of Oksibil at a depth of 57 kilometers (35 miles).

It shocked residents in Oksibil, which is located south of Papua’s provincial capital, Jayapura.

“We all ran out from homes,” said a housewife who identified herself only as Desy. “This is the strongest quake I ever felt.”

Indonesia is prone to seismic upheaval due to its location on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” an arc of volcanos and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin.

A giant quake off the country on Dec. 26, 2004, triggered a tsunami in the Indian Ocean that killed 230,000 people, half of them in Indonesia’s westernmost province of Aceh.

IS THE NEW MADRID FAULT COMING TO LIFE AGAIN ? EARTHQUAKES IN OKLAHOMA!!!

Mark Lewis

I just posted an article about the quakes in Arkansas the other day & now Oklahoma & they have a few tremors every week in Memphis Tennessee!! May GOD be with us & may he prepare us mentally, spiritually, & financially for what is to come to BABYLON U.S.A.!!

A moderate earthquake early Saturday in central Oklahoma knocked pictures off walls and woke people and pets as it shook an area that stretched into Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Texas. The U.S. Geological Survey said on its website Saturday that a 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck at 2:12 a.m., with an epicenter about six miles north of Prague in Lincoln County. That’s about 50 miles east of Oklahoma City and 75 miles southwest of Tulsa. A 3.4 magnitude aftershock was reported at 2:27 a.m. from the same location, as well as a 2.7 magnitude aftershock at 2:44 a.m. “Oh, man. I’ve never felt anything like that in my life,” Prague City Police Department dispatcher Claudie Morton told the Tulsa World. “It was the scariest thing. I had a police officer just come in and sit down and all the sudden the walls started shaking and the windows were rattling. It felt like the roof was going to come off the police department.” Morton said the office was flooded with calls, but no one reported injuries or major damage. She said residents told her that picture frames and mirrors fell from walls and broke, drawers worked loose from dressers and objects tumbled out of cabinets.

“We do have several damaged buildings downtown, but it’s just cracks and things like that,” Morton said. “Nothing is destroyed or anything like that.” Oklahoma Geological Survey researcher Austin Holland told Oklahoma City television station KOTV that the earthquake and aftershocks occurred on a known fault line. Residents in Prague and Sparks felt an intense shaking, while farther away, the quake was more of a dull rumble, he said. “It shakes much more rapidly when you’re closer to it,” he said. “Because it’s a large earthquake, it’s going to rumble for a while.” Holland said his office received hundreds of emails from people who felt the quake. The messages came from as far as Texas, Missouri and Arkansas, he said. Tom Foster of Oklahoma City told The Oklahoman that he slept through the earthquake but was awakened by an aftershock. “I know we’ve already had several phone calls from out of state relatives wondering what happened,” Foster said. “I guess it’s more interesting than anything that was dangerous.” Heather Spicer of Sapulpa said the shaking woke her son and their dog. “At first I thought an airplane had crashed nearby,” she told The Oklahoman. “But now I believe it was an earthquake because the whole house just kept vibrating with what sounded like distant thunder outside.”

OKLAHOMA CITY — Authorities say a 5.6 magnitude earthquake has hit central Oklahoma, but they had no immediate reports of any injuries or major damages.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported from Golden, Colo., on its website that it detected a 5.6 magnitude quake at 10:53 p.m. local time Saturday, centered about 44 miles east-northeast of Oklahoma City. It had initially reported the temblor as a 5.2 magnitude quake.

Michelann Ooten, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, also confirmed a quake on the scale of 5 was recorded.

It came on a day a series of quakes rattled the state, including a 4.7 magnitude quake early Saturday.

Ooten said no injuries were reported to emergency management officials and she had no reports of major damage.

October 27, 2011FIJI – A deep 6.0 magnitude earthquake has struck the region of the Fiji Islands. The earthquake was 611.9 km (380.2 miles) in depth and generated no tsunami warning. The epicenter of the earthquake was 208 km (129 miles) SE of Lambasa, Vanua Levu, Fiji and 2177 km (1352 miles) NNE of Auckland, New Zealand. Earthquakes around Fiji have been increasing in frequency and depth near the islands- an indiction of tension from tectonic plate stress. The stresses created by the opposing plate movements have resulted in the formation of transform faults such as the Fiji Fracture Zone to the north and the Hunter Fracture Zone to the south.

A 4.4 also occurred with a depth of  310.06 miles in depth!!! 4.8 398.98 miles in depth!!!!! On October 30th 2011 a 4.6 342.38 miles in depth!!!!
